2011 Conspire Sauvignon Blanc Rutherford Production: 267 cases50% Sauvignon Blanc 50% Sauvignon Musque Winemaker / Proprietor: Amy Aiken Winemaking My 2011 Sauvignon Blanc comes from a benchland vineyard tucked against the western hills of Rutherford. Hand-grenade size clusters of golden brown berries were delivered cold to the winery and pressed. Stainless Steel fermented and sur lie aged for 5 months. The wine exhibits a creaminess and complexity driven by intense aromatics. Tasting Notes The floral nose, minerality and viscous mouth-feel come from the Sauvignon Musque clone, which makes up half of the wine. The refreshing acidity, truffle and classic citrus fruit flavors are attributable to a traditional Sauvignon Blanc clone. The concentration, balance and length indicate the potential for aging. 2009 Meander Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Production: 297 cases100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard Sources: 50% Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford 50% Lewelling Vineyards in St. Helena Winemaker / Proprietor: Amy Aiken Winemaking: Early morning harvest ensures cool fruit at the sorting table where clusters are hand sorted followed by destemming and gentle crushing. Delivered to tanks, the grapes are then cold soaked for five days prior to inoculation for fermentation. Daily punchdowns are supplemented with pumpovers during fermentation to extract maximum flavor and color. The wine is gently pressed and barreled down for malolactic fermentation. Aged in 100% French Oak, 70% of which is new, for 22 months. Primary Coopers, Nadalie, Gamba and Seguin Moreau. Tasting Notes: The product of a "perfect growing season", 2009 Meander is the result of extended hang-time and mild harvest weather culminating in intense flavors without advanced ripeness. Aromas roar out of the glass, redolent with blackberry, Bing cherry and cassis. What is promised in the nose is delivered in the mouth, filling berry pie like flavors with the creamy tannins and my signature supple finish. 2009 Meander Cabernet Sauvignon Morisoli Vineyard, Rutherford Production: 24 cases100% Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard Source: 100% Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford This vineyard has been family farmed for generations and is prized by many of Napa's most respected winemakers. Meander Morisoli Cabernet Sauvignon is packed with intense currant, espresso and licorice notes; the wine is well structured and built to last. Tasting Notes This bottling shows off its predigree with style and substance. Mouth coating flavors of black plum and cassis with an intense burst of espresso bean and licorice, it has a dense core of sweet fruit with a fleshy finish. Morisoli Vineyards produces one of thoee rare Cabernets that will continue to evolve for the next decade. |
